East Kyushu Expressway between Hayato Nishi IC and Kajiki IC to open to four lanes of traffic from November 30, 10:00 a.m.

Posted on November 10, 2022 by News Admin

NEXCO West Japan announced that the 3.6-km stretch of the Higashi-Kyushu Expressway (E78) between the Hayato Nishi IC and the Kajiki IC will open with four lanes at 10:00 on November 30.

Construction will continue between the Hayato East Interchange and Hayato West Interchange to make the road a four-lane highway.

In the event of a disaster, such as a slope collapse due to abnormal rainfall, the temporary two-lane section, which is two-way traffic, would have to be closed for a long period of time, whereas the four-lane section can be used effectively to ensure quick traffic flow during a disaster. In addition, the four-lane section will allow for redundancy in the event of a disaster. It is also expected to enhance redundancy in the event of a disaster.
