The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will open a 1.4-km section of Tokyo Urban Planning Road Trunk Route No. 2 from Tsukiji 5-chome, Chuo-ku to Shimbashi 4-chome, Minato-ku to traffic at 15:00 on December 18.
The widths of the new roadway range from 11.7 to 43 meters between Shiodome and Toranomon, and from 20 to 48 meters between Harumi and Shiodome, and are expected to strengthen the transportation and logistics network linking the waterfront area with the urban area, facilitate local traffic by easing congestion on the parallel Harumi-dori Avenue, and improve disaster preparedness by providing multiple evacuation routes in the waterfront area.
The company will continue to improve the sidewalks along the side roads.
