On September 1, Ryohin Keikaku and Airbnb concluded a comprehensive collaboration agreement to jointly produce vacant houses, stores, and old private homes scattered across the country, contributing to the diversification of lodging facilities and the creation of regional liveliness in Japan. The two companies intend to attract more travelers from both Japan and abroad by utilizing their strengths to infuse new value into idle real estate and post it on the “Airbnb” platform.

As a first step, Ryohin Keikaku coordinated the interior design and renovation of three immigration experience houses (former teacher housing) managed by Shimizu-cho, Hokkaido, with which Airbnb concluded a partnership agreement in June. The rooms are furnished with daily necessities such as furniture, tableware, cooking utensils, and home appliances from MUJI, and users can experience accommodation as if they were living in their hometown with only limited luggage. The rooms also provide a comfortable and spacious workspace to accommodate diversifying work styles and encourage people to consider moving to the area.

First, on September 13, the company began accepting reservations for two accommodations on “Airbnb.
