East Japan Railway Company to hold “Shinkansen General Rolling Stock Center Base Tour 2022”. Six different courses including photo session, car wash experience, etc.

East Japan Railway Company (JR East) will conduct a tour of the Shinkansen General Rolling Stock Center in Rifu-cho, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. The tour will take place on October 22, and registration began on September 9 on the JR East View Tourism & Sales website, “Japan Travel, Railroad Travel.

There are a total of six different courses, each departing from Sendai Station and Ueno Station, respectively. Each course includes a special train ride to the rail yard, a boxed lunch and goods.

There are three types of courses for observation and photography: the “Shinkansen Fun Photo Session Course” (30,000 yen for adults and 25,000 yen for children), which allows visitors to photograph the E2 Series “200 Series Color Shinkansen” and E3 Series “Toreiyo”; the “Shinkansen Maintenance and Inspection Experience Course” (21,000 yen for adults and 16,000 yen for children), which allows visitors to see the “East-i” inspection car, track maintenance machines, and ruts; and the “Shinkansen Rail Yard Watching Course” (12,000 yen for adults and 8,000 yen for children), which allows visitors to observe the changing of railcar bogies and traction transfer. The “Shinkansen Rail Yard Watching Course” (12,000 yen for adults and 8,000 yen for children) allows visitors to observe the exchange of carriages and towing of rolling stock.

The “Shinkansen Omotenashi Course” (21,000 yen for adults and 16,000 yen for children) allows visitors to wash cars from inside the train, the “Shinkansen Marukajiri Course” (21,000 yen for adults and 16,000 yen for children) allows visitors to experience the cab and train inspection, the “Shinkansen Traverser” allows visitors to ride on a moving traverser, and the “Shinkansen Mini Shinkansen Experience Course” is for children. The “Shinkansen Exciting Course for Parents and Children” (15,000 yen for adults and 11,000 yen for children) includes a ride on a mini Shinkansen for children.

Prices are for flights departing from Sendai, and 20,000 yen for adults and 10,000 yen for children will be added for flights departing from Ueno.
