JR Kyushu has announced its operation plan for September 6, 2011, due to the approach of Typhoon No. 11.
Kyushu Shinkansen (Mizuho/Sakura/Tsubame) trains between Hakata and Kumamoto will be suspended from the first departure, and those between Kumamoto and Kagoshima-Chuo will operate with reduced frequency from the first departure.
On conventional lines, trains on the Nichinan Line between Tayoshi and Aoshima/Aoshima and between Aoshima and Shibushi are suspended from the first departure to the end of the day. All other lines are suspended from the first departure (some operations will be reduced).
JR Shikoku also announced that heavy rain and strong winds are expected due to the path of the typhoon, and as of 2:10 p.m., there is a possibility that operations may be suspended on routes in the Okayama and Fukuyama areas. Please continue to check the official website for the latest service status as there may be sudden changes in destinations and significant delays on some sections.
Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 11, tickets that arrive at, depart from, or pass through JR West’s conventional train stations and the Sanyo Shinkansen and Hokuriku Shinkansen (Kanazawa to Joetsu Myoko) that are valid from September 4 to 8 (including tickets used for the same journey) will be refunded or changed without any charge.
