Odakyu will hold the “Dream Red and White Chase Relay between VSE and Red 1000,” a project in which passengers will ride on two types of cars: the limited express Romance Car VSE (50000 type) and the 1000 type in the livery of the Hakone Tozan Railway. The event will be held from September 23rd to 25th. The event will be held for three days from September 23 to 25.
The plan is to preserve memories of the heroic figures of the white VSE and the red Hakone Tozan Trains’ Type 1000, both of which have played an active role in Hakone tourism for a long time. On the special route, passengers can enjoy nostalgic scenes such as the cars seen in Odawara and other cities during Hakone sightseeing, and scenes that have never been realized before, such as running side by side on a double-track section.
There are also two courses available: the “light route” course, which specializes in train rides, and the “heavy route” course, which includes a special photo opportunity at the end of the tour in which the two train types are lined up in the train yard. Participants will receive an original commemorative train pass (D-type hard ticket) and other original goods.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis on the Odakyu Travel reservation website beginning at 12:30 p.m. on September 6.
