Singapore Tourism Board Celebrates Merlion’s 50th Anniversary

The Singapore Tourism Board will host more than 20 exclusive food and drink specials, shopping and other activities to celebrate Merlion’s 50th birthday.

The Merlion Statue in Merlion Park near One Fullerton will be lit up from 6:00 pm to 24:00 pm daily from September 15 to 29. The Merlion statue will also be lit up during the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2022 from September 30 to October 2.

The event will also feature a “Merli-Go-Round x Merlion 50th Anniversary Edition” game in the Singapore Travel Guide app and a hands-on event to explore the island and find the six official Merlions through the Prudential Merlion50Hunt Challenge ( The Prudential Merlion 50Hunt Challenge is a hands-on event that allows visitors to explore Singapore Island and find the six official Merlions through the Prudential Merlion Hunt Challenge.

National Gallery Singapore’s latest exhibition, “Nothing is Forever: Rethinking Sculpture in Singapore. Rethinking Sculpture in Singapore” will feature RedMan Baking Studio’s “Merli Royal Icing Cookies Class”.

The Fullerton Hotel, adjacent to Merlion Park, will light up the front (facade) of its building in a warm golden hue during the month of September to celebrate its 50th anniversary. On September 9-10, as part of Merlion’s Golden Jubilee Experience, the hotel will offer a family-friendly weekend staycation that includes a photo opportunity in front of Merlion Park and afternoon tea on a bum boat (a traditional wooden boat). On September 15, a cake-cutting ceremony will be held for hotel guests, employees, and visitors.
