JAL introduces New fuel-efficient aircraft and code-sharing flights for 2022 Winter

Posted on August 23, 2022 by News Admin

On August 23, JAL Group announced its basic flight plan for domestic flights in the winter season of FY2022. The plan covers the period from October 30 to March 25, 2023.

First, as part of the JAL Group’s efforts to upgrade to fuel-efficient aircraft, devise new operations, and utilize SAF (Sustainable Alternative Fuel), some flights departing from Haneda will have their planned flight times extended by 5 minutes longer than before in order to expand opportunities to operate at altitudes where fuel consumption can be reduced.

In addition, by operating new fuel-efficient and low-noise aircraft such as the Airbus A350-900 and the ATR42-600, which will be put into service from the winter timetable, we will work toward achieving our goal of “virtually zero CO2 emissions by 2050”.

For routes to/from Itami (Osaka), the Kagoshima route and the Shin-Chitose (Sapporo) route will be increased during peak season. In addition, Japan Transocean Air (JTA) will increase flights on its Fukuoka – Naha route, Japan Air Commuter (JAC) on its Kagoshima routes, and Ryukyu Air Commuter (RAC) on its Ishigaki – Yonaguni route.

In addition, the popular “JAL First Class Service” was newly launched on the Haneda – Hiroshima/Kagoshima route. As part of its code-sharing activities beyond major airline affiliates, JAL will newly begin code-sharing with Oriental Air Bridge (ORC) on five routes from Nagasaki to Iki/Goto Fukue/Tsushima and Fukuoka to Tsushima/Goto Fukue as JAL flights, starting on August 30.

The number of flights on other major routes is as follows. The airline said it will make decisions and announce flight reductions due to the impact of the new coronavirus based on future demand trends.
