Contributing to the restoration of flood-damaged infrastructure and agricultural infrastructure in Timor-Leste

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste on August 16 in Dili for a grant of up to 1 billion yen for the “Emergency Flood Damage Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project.


This project aims to restore public services in the capital city and agricultural production infrastructure in rural areas by rapidly rehabilitating infrastructure and agricultural infrastructure that were severely damaged by the floods and landslides that occurred in the capital city of Dili and rural areas in April 2021. This project is expected to improve the country’s economic and social infrastructure through the recovery and development of the livelihood and economy of the target areas, and will contribute to Goal 9 (Create a foundation for industrial and technological innovation), Goal 11 (Create cities that are livable), and Goal 13 (Take concrete measures against climate change) of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).
