Tourism Authority of Thailand, Tokyo Office New Director-General: Mr. Kajongdeet Apichartkulakulan

Posted on August 13, 2022 by News Admin

On August 12, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TTA) held a networking event where Seksan Sripraiwan, former Director of the Tokyo Office, who finished his term on July 31, gave a speech and introduced his successor, Kajorndet Apichartrakul. Apichartrakul was introduced.

Mr. Saeksan Sweepraiwan introduced the latest trends in Thai tourism: 39 million foreign tourists visited Thailand in 2019, bringing in $61 billion in revenue, and international tourists spent about 10 times more than domestic travelers. The Agency has been focusing on Japan, which is one of the top five tourist destinations in the country.

However, the global pandemic of the new coronavirus infection made international travel difficult, resulting in a significant decline in foreign tourists in 2020 and 2021.

The number of foreign tourists is expected to recover to 2.96 million by 2023, which is 80% of the level of 2019, both domestic and foreign. The number of foreign tourists is expected to recover to 80% of the 2019 level by 2023 in terms of both domestic and foreign visitors.

The Agency is already looking ahead to 2023 and will be implementing three strategies: demand creation, supply system development, and digital transformation. Specifically, the agency has identified the following keywords: F for Food, Film, Fashion, Festival, and Fight; M for Music, Museum, Master, and Metaverse; Q for Quick Win and Quality; and N for New Segments, New Areas, New Partners, New Infrastructure, and New Way. The promotion will be conducted under the keywords of “N” (New Segments, New Areas, New Partners, New Infrastructure, and New Way).

Mr. Kajongdeet Apichartkulakul, who was the director of the Pattaya office prior to his assignment to Japan, praised Mr. Saeksan Sipraiwan’s achievements over the past three years and called for his continued support to those who attended the event.
