JICA President Akihiko Tanaka met with Kunio Mikuriya, Director General of the World Customs Organization (WCO), at JICA Headquarters on August 2.
President Tanaka and Director General Mikuriya exchanged views on the collaborative projects between JICA and WCO, the environment surrounding international trade, and the importance of customs support.
The two parties touched on the importance of human resource development, including the Master Trainer Program, a project to train customs officers in Africa and Oceania, which is being implemented based on a business cooperation agreement signed by the two organizations in 2015, and confirmed that they will continue to work closely together.
