The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Yen Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Royal Government of Cambodia on August 6 in Phnom Penh for up to 41,388 million yen for the “Sihanoukville Port New Container Terminal Expansion Project (Phase I).
This project will expand a new container terminal at the Port of Sihanoukville, the only large deep-water port in Cambodia. The project aims to increase the number of shipping routes calling at the port and to promote trade in Cambodia, and will contribute to SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) Goal 8 (both job satisfaction and economic growth) and 9 (let’s create the basis for industrial and technological innovation).
