The Metropolitan Expressway announced the traffic congestion forecast for the Bon Festival period in 2022.
Traffic tends to be more congested at the beginning of the month, before the Obon period, and on the last Friday of the month than during the Obon period every year, and the Metropolitan Expressway forecasts that traffic congestion will be particularly heavy on August 2-5, 8-10, August 19, and August 26 in 2022.
Before the Obon period, traffic congestion is expected from early morning until late at night. During the Bon vacation period, traffic congestion is expected at Kasai Exit on the Wangan Line (eastbound) for leisure facilities, and at Kawasaki Ukishima JCT on the Wangan Line (eastbound and westbound) and Minatomirai Exit on the Yokohane Line (offline) for shopping malls.
On the Bayshore Route, heavy traffic congestion is expected to occur, especially on the Tokyo Aqualine, and transit times are expected to increase significantly.
