NEXCO East Japan, NEXCO Central Japan, NEXCO West Japan, JB Honsha, and Japan Road Traffic Information Center have compiled a traffic congestion forecast for the Bon vacation period (August 10-16).
On the downbound route, traffic congestion is expected to be more frequent on August 11 and 13: 38 times on August 11, 39 times on August 13, and 31 times on August 14 for a total of 153 congestions of 10 km or more are expected during the period. On the uphill route, 32 times on the 13th, 50 times on the 14th, and 39 times on the 15th are expected to occur, for a total of 196 times during the period.
One particularly long one is expected to be a 45-km traffic jam near the Yaita Kita Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway (off-road) at around 10:00 on August 11.
