Kumamoto Tramway conducts a test ride of the Visa touch payment system

Posted on June 24, 2022 by News Admin

Kumamoto Tramway (Kumamoto City Transportation Bureau) is a member of Sumitomo Mitsui Card, Visa Worldwa

The experiment is scheduled to run from July 7 to March 31, 2023, and will involve six ultra-low-floor cars and 10 standard cars.

Anyone who uses a Visa-branded service that accepts touch payment can use this service, and payment is completed by simply touching the ticket when getting off the bus (unlike nimoca, etc., it is not necessary to touch the ticket when boarding). (Unlike nimoca, there is no need to touch the train when getting on.) The service allows payment of regular fares for adults and children and discounted fares for persons with disabilities (except for regular adult fares, which must be reported to the driver), but the total of fares due to transfer at the Karashimacho stop is not automatically applied, and must be reported. Also, the discount for transferring between streetcars in nimoca is not applied.

The usage history can be checked by registering as a member on the “Q-move” website.
