ZIPAIR to Launch New Narita-San Jose flights in December

Posted on June 15, 2022 by News Admin

ZIPAIR Tokyo announced on June 15 that it will begin service between Narita and San Jose (Norman Y. Mineta San Jose International Airport) in December. Ticket sales are scheduled to begin in the fall. The new route was explained by Shingo Nishida, President and Representative Director.

Mr. Nishida said, “We have been aiming to become the first LCC to cross the Pacific Ocean since our establishment. We launched our long-awaited Los Angeles route last December, and this will be our second route on the North American continent. (Since June, there has been an easing of airport quarantine inspections and home stays, and in the U.S., the requirement to show proof of vaccination upon entry has been eliminated. This announcement was made because demand for air travel is finally returning. San Jose is home to the Japanese community and Silicon Valley, and we believe that people will understand our stance as the ‘New Basic Airline. Before Corona, there were about 60 domestic flights from San Jose,” he said, citing ease of use as one of the reasons for starting service.

Fares and timetables for the San Jose route will be announced when they are ready.

The aircraft will also undergo a redesign at this time. The existing design depicts “Z_” (the letter Z and underscore) on the tail, but the new design will be based on the corporate color gray, with black, green, and white in a striped pattern. The existing four aircraft will also have the tail design changed with decals, which will be slightly smaller than the painted version, but will be decorated in the same manner.
