The Portuguese National Tourist Board will open the Portuguese Royal Jewelry Museum at the Ajuda Palace in Lisbon.
The permanent collection includes the treasures of the Portuguese royal family, jewelry, insignia, ornaments, coins, religious goldsmith’s work, etc. The collection of over 1,000 items has been closed to the public for 226 years. Visitors can see Dona Mariana’s emerald-embellished tiara and a tobacco case commissioned by King Don José from an 18th-century French woodworker.
The museum is open from 10:00 to 19:00 (18:00 in winter), and admission is €10 for adults, €7 for students (7-24) and seniors (65+), and free for children up to age 6 and Lisbon Card holders. €32 family tickets are also available.
