The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau will begin selling Shimapo Currency, a premium gift certificate that can be used on Oshima, Toshima, Niijima, Shikinejima, Kozushima, Miyakejima, Mikurajima, Hachijojima, Aogashima, Chichijima and Hahajima, from June 10, at noon. A maximum of eight sets per person can be purchased.
To purchase and use the tickets, you need to register on the “e-Shimapo” tourism benefit website. After registration, the user uploads his/her ID to be verified, and then purchases are made by credit card. After the payment is completed, the customer enters the amount to be paid on the screen and presents it to the clerk, who stamps it with an electronic stamp.
The period of use is from June 10 to March 31, 2023, and stores where the service is available are marked with a sign or banner of a member store. In addition to the stores on the 11 islands mentioned above, some stores at the Takeshiba Passenger Boat Terminal will also offer the service.
