Posted on June 7, 2022 by News Admin

The Hawaii Tourism Authority will broadcast live on InstaLive from the site of the “King Kamehameha Celebration,” a celebration of Kamehameha Day, a Hawaiian state holiday honoring King Kamehameha the Great, founder of the Kingdom of Hawaii, on June 11-12.

The Kamehameha Statue Lei Draping Ceremony will be held on June 11 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Japan time. The Royal Hawaiian Band will perform from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m., and the Lei Draping Ceremony will be held from 10 to 11:00 a.m. The King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade will also be held on June 12 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

The Kamehameha Lei Draping Ceremony is the dedication of a beautiful handmade lei to the arms of King Kamehameha I. The lei dedicated to the King Kamehameha Statue on Oahu is approximately 30 feet long and is designated to be made of natural materials only.

The King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade will be held the day after the Ray Draping. The parade will begin on King Street in front of Olani Palace, turn left on Ala Moana Boulevard from Punchbowl Street, and head to Kalakaua Avenue.
