Continuous day/night lane restrictions between the Tomei Kawasaki IC and the Tokyo IC

Posted on June 7, 2022 by News Admin

NEXCO Central Japan will switch traffic operations on the Tomei Expressway (E1) between Tokyo IC and Tomei Kawasaki IC due to renewal work (Tomei Tamagawa Bridge). The period is from July 23 to mid-February 2023.

The traffic operation will be switched from the current STEP 1, continuous day/night lane shift restrictions to continuous day/night lane separation restrictions and nighttime one-lane restrictions on the uplink lane as STEP 2. The uphill lane separation restrictions will be in effect from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on weekdays (or until 5:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays if the following day falls on a weekend or holiday).

Since traffic congestion is expected during weekday nighttime one-lane restrictions on the uplink route, motorists are urged to divert to the Chuo Expressway (E20) or other routes.
