Mori Building will hold “The 50th Anniversary of Versailles: The Rose of Versailles Exhibition -Versailles Forever-” at Tokyo City View in Roppongi Hills. The exhibition will run from September 17 to November 20.
Riyoko Ikeda’s “The Rose of Versailles” was serialized in the girls’ manga magazine Weekly Margaret from April 1972 to December 1973. This issue of the magazine focuses on two of the 2000-page long story, especially Marie Antoinette and Oscar, and introduces them along with their original drawings. During the serialization, Ikeda continued to study painting in order to achieve even greater heights, saying, “I want to paint more like I want to paint.
In addition to exhibiting original drawings with Ikeda’s thoughts and words at the time of writing, the Takarazuka Revue corner will reproduce “Oscar’s Room” from the play and introduce stage costumes and props. Animated TV shows and nostalgic goods will also be on display.
