The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Loan Agreement (L/A) with the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on May 23 in Hanoi for up to 18,871 million yen for the “Satellite-Based Disaster and Climate Change Management Project (II)”.
This project will support the procurement and maintenance of related facilities necessary for the development and utilization of earth observation satellites in Hoa Lac district, Hanoi, and the development of human resources capable of using satellite observation data at these facilities.
The Japanese technology utilization condition (STEP) (Note) will be applied to the yen loan for this project, and the development, manufacture, and launch of the earth observation satellite to be developed under this project and the construction of the satellite operation system will utilize Japan’s quick-delivery, high-performance, compact, and low-cost synthetic aperture radar satellite technology.
