Collaboration with UNICEF to Help Strengthen Prevention of Infectious Diseases in Afghanistan

On May 20, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) signed a Grant Agreement (G/A) with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for a grant of up to 1.203 billion yen for the “Childhood Infectious Disease Prevention Program (UNICEF collaboration)” in Afghanistan.


In Afghanistan, the people are currently facing unprecedented economic and humanitarian crises such as poverty, food and medicine shortages due to food and financial shortages, and support from the international community is essential.


As part of humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, this project aims to contribute to the prevention of infectious diseases among children and women through steady vaccination activities by supporting procurement and quality control of vaccines required for routine immunization against various infectious diseases and polio vaccination campaigns, as well as educational activities for the local population. Afghanistan.
