Kyoto City: Tanabata Special Event

The Kyoto City Zoo will hold the “Tanabata Special,” a special event to fulfill your dream of “doing something like this at the zoo,” in honor of the Star Festival. The Kyoto Zoo will hold the “Tanabata Special” as follows to make your dreams come true.


We look forward to receiving your application.


The Zoo will hold the event after taking sufficient measures to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus, such as limiting admission during crowded times, disinfection, ventilation, and the use of masks. Please note that the schedule may be subject to change depending on the situation of new coronavirus infection in the future. In that case, we will notify you as soon as possible.

We will realize your “dreams” of what you would like to do at the zoo to the extent possible.


Please be aware that entry, touching, feeding, etc., may be restricted for animals that are susceptible to new coronavirus infection or dangerous animals.

Approx. 50 persons

Free (admission fee is not included)


6 How to apply


There will be an application box in front of the main entrance lecture room in the Kyoto Zoo. Please fill in the following information on the attached application form and drop it into the box.


To prevent the transmission of new coronavirus infection, writing utensils will not be provided or lent out. You do not need to use a special application form.

8 Selection Method


If there are too many applications, participants will be selected by lottery. The results of the selection will be notified to the participants by mail in late June 2022.
