“Enjoy Shopping Streets along the Randen Line” and “Kyoto Heritage Tour” digital stamp rally

Posted on May 10, 2022 by News Admin

Kyoto City is engaged in the “Randen x Shopping Arcade Project” in which Keifuku Electric Railway Co. and shopping arcades along the railway line (especially those located near stations along the way) work together to promote the “Randen”, the only streetcar in existence in Kyoto, which is loved by local residents and tourists, in order to attract more visitors to the areas along the line and to improve circulation among the shopping arcades. The first of these projects, the “Randen x Shopping Arcade Project,” is underway. We are pleased to announce the publication of the first PR brochure and the opening of a new course for the “Kyoto Heritage Tour” digital stamp rally smartphone application.

Outline of the “Randen x Shopping Street Project

As part of Kyoto City’s “Shopping Street Local Resource Utilization Project*,” monthly meetings are held with the shopping streets (Daiei-dori Shopping Street Promotion Association, Daishogun Shopping Street Promotion Association, and Ryoanji Sando Shopping Street) adjacent to stations on the Randen (Keifuku Electric Railway Arashiyama-moto Line and Kitano Line), Keifuku Electric Railway Company and Kyoto City participating. The meeting is held every month to discuss sustainable measures to promote the attraction of visitors. (*) Shopping Street Local Resource Utilization Project This project aims to brand the area centered on the shopping street by dispatching coordinators to the shopping street to support sustainable efforts to attract visitors through cooperation among the community, organizations, and the shopping street.

1. Publication of PR booklet “Randen x Enjoy the Shopping Arcade Along the Train Line: A Fluttering Stopover Journey

The magazine introduces attractive stores and recommended spots in each shopping district to encourage commuters, Arashiyama fans, and tourists to stop by the shopping districts in the vicinity. The magazine will be available at major Randen stations and nearby lodging facilities from April 29, 2022 (Friday, national holiday).

Coupons for use in the shopping arcade (including in-person service unique to the shopping arcade!) Randen fans will not want to miss the “Randen Spoilers” (must-see for those in the know!). The official Twitter account “Float Stopover Trip” has been opened and introduced. In the future, we are planning to send out information on events in the shopping arcade and Randen, as well as to conduct a hashtag campaign and other activities.

2. Opening of a new course “Randen Flat Stopover Trip – Kyoto Heritage and Surrounding Shopping Streets” for the “Kyoto Heritage Tour” digital stamp rally smartphone application
