The Morocco Booth Showcases Its Culture Through Gnawa, Traditional Music Used in Ceremonies, and Moroccan Mint Tea

Posted on September 27, 2026 by Editor in Chief

“Tourism EXPO Japan 2026,” one of the world’s largest travel events, is being held at Tokyo Big Sight for four days, from September 24 to 27.

The Moroccan National Tourist Office has set up a booth in the Central Asia section of East Hall 1. With a stage featuring “Gnawa,” a traditional rhythm-based music genre, at its center, the booth showcases the charms of Morocco. Gnawa is a trance-like style of music that visitors often hear when exploring Moroccan cities. Locally, it is primarily used in prayer ceremonies.

They also serve Moroccan mint tea prepared in the traditional style. You can choose between sweet and unsweetened tea. Prepared by repeatedly pouring hot water over the mint, it’s strong and full of flavor.
