A black version of the “Myaku Myaku” Pulled Octopus Rice is here! Advance reservations start at 9:00 p.m. tonight.

Awajiya will release its new station bento, “EXPO 2025 Myaku Myaku Hippari-dako Rice (Black),” on September 22. The price is 2,480 yen. Advance reservations will be accepted starting at 9:00 p.m. on September 18.

This is an officially licensed product for the 2025 Osaka-Kansai World Expo, featuring the same contents as the signature dish “Hippari-dako Rice,” but presented in ceramic tableware and wrapped in packaging paper adorned with a black version of the Expo’s official mascot, “Myaku Myaku” (commonly known as “Black Myaku Myaku”).

In contrast to the vibrantly colored “Myaku Myaku Pull-and-Stretch Octopus Rice” (released in September 2025), this version features a chic and understated appearance.

The black Myaku-Myaku figures are arranged on three sides of the ceramic body. The characters “Myaku-Myaku” are also printed on the inside rim of the pot.

The wrapping paper features a commemorative design showcasing Myaku Myaku standing and the “EXPO 2025” logo. It also includes the “Takotako” illustration familiar from the regular product line.

The contents are the same as those of a standard “Hippari-dako-meshi”; in addition to soy sauce-flavored rice, the pot is filled with ingredients such as simmered octopus, simmered conger eel, simmered rapeseed blossoms, simmered shiitake mushrooms, simmered carrots, Tosa-style simmered bamboo shoots, shredded omelet, and octopus tempura.

Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 9:00 PM on September 18 for items to be sold in-store and online from September 22 to 30. There is a daily quantity limit, and sales will end once items are sold out. Purchases are limited to two items per person per order. Information regarding reservations for October and beyond will be announced sequentially on Awajiya’s official website and social media channels.
