JR Hokkaido renovates Kita Hiroshima Station for the opening of “Hokkaido Ball Park F Village”. Operation plan also changed during night games.

Posted on December 20, 2022 by News Admin

JR Hokkaido has been studying the renovation of the nearest station, Kita-Hiroshima Station, and the operation plan when night games are held, in response to the opening of the Hokkaido Ball Park F-Village and the new stadium, ESCON Field HOKKAIDO, in Kita-Hiroshima City in March 2023.

Kitahiroshima Station Facilities Renovation

On December 25, the platform extension and elevator ticket gates at Kitahiroshima Station will be put into service. The Sapporo-bound platforms (Lines 3 and 4) were extended because of expected congestion at Kitahiroshima Station after games at the new stadium are over. The extension will be used during the hours after professional baseball games at the new stadium, and the stopping position of trains arriving at and departing from Track 4 will be changed to alleviate congestion. All trains arriving and departing after 3:00 p.m. during day games and all trains arriving and departing after 8:00 p.m. during night games will be eligible for the extension.

Kitahiroshima Station is equipped with one elevator for each platform for the Sapporo and Chitose directions, but there is no ticket gate, and it was necessary to ask a station attendant when using the elevators. An automatic ticket gate will be installed in front of the elevators.
