“Mitsui Garden Hotels” to Open in Hida Takayama in Early 2029. Located a 2-minute walk from the station, the hotel will feature 187 rooms and a hot spring facility on the top floor.

On October 26, Mitsui Fudosan and Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management announced the start of construction on the “(Tentative Name) Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture Hotel Project” (69 Hanazato-cho 4-chome, Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture, and other locations). This will be the first “Mitsui Garden Hotels” property in Gifu Prefecture, and the company aims to open the hotel in early 2029.

The planned site is located about a 2-minute walk from Takayama Station on the JR Takayama Main Line. The building will be an 8-story structure with a total floor area of 8,688.26 m², and is scheduled to feature 187 guest rooms designed to accommodate a variety of stay needs, including those of groups and families. The interior design will incorporate elements reminiscent of Hida’s woodworking culture and make use of the warmth of wood.

In addition to restaurants and bars, the facility will feature a hot spring bath on the top floor offering views of the Hida Takayama mountain range and the cityscape. The hotel aims to be a hub for regional tourism, offering not only access to local attractions such as the “historic townscape” of the Sannmachi district and the “Takayama Festival,” but also excellent access to surrounding areas such as Shirakawa-go, Kamikochi, Kanazawa, and Toyama, allowing guests to fully experience the charm of Hida Takayama.
