United Airlines will operate two daily flights between Japan and Chicago. The new Business Class will be introduced on new 787-9 aircraft starting in 2026. Nozomi Saito, an account manager in the Agency Sales Department, referred to the MLB postseason currently underway, regarding the Chicago White Sox—who clawed their way from three consecutive 100-loss seasons to make the postseason this year—stated that they are “the most talked-about ‘Cinderella team’ in America” and expressed his hope for a World Series matchup between the Dodgers and the White Sox. On that very day, Game 4 of the Division Series between the White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians took place, with the Guardians winning 9–5 to even the series at 2–2. Game 5, which will determine which team advances to the American League Championship Series, is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. Japan Standard Time on October 11. Mr. Saito also explained the new product scheduled to be introduced on new Boeing 787-9 aircraft starting in 2026, noting that “United Polaris,” the airline’s top-tier international class, will evolve into a private cabin with sliding doors. He explained that these cabins will feature aisle access from every seat, 19-inch 4K monitors, and wireless charging capabilities that allow passengers to simply place their smartphones on the surface. Similarly, “United Polaris Studio,” set to be introduced on new 787-9 aircraft starting in 2026, will be 25% seats than United Polaris, featuring ottomans that allow traveling companions to sit facing each other and 27-inch 4K monitors; only eight seats will be available in the front of the cabin. Regarding Polaris, Mr. Saito stated, “It’s not just about the seats—it’s a concept designed to make the entire journey comfortable, from the airport lounge to arrival,” and The airline is advancing initiatives to enhance the quality of the entire travel experience—from before departure onward—including the establishment of “United Polaris Lounges” at six hub airports in North America, which are accessible exclusively to business class passengers. In Japan, the “United Club” lounge is available at Narita Airport; in addition to business class passengers and Star Alliance Gold status members or higher, economy class passengers can also gain access by purchasing a one-time pass in advance via the app.
