On October 19, ANA operated the inaugural flight of the “Chiikawa Jet,” a specially designed aircraft created in collaboration with the popular series “Chiikawa.”
On the 18th, the day before, the actual aircraft was unveiled at a hangar at Haneda Airport, where Chikawa (a flight attendant) and Hachiware (first officer), and Usagi (captain)—all dressed in ANA uniforms—made a surprise appearance, generating a great deal of buzz. Today, the aircraft finally begins regular scheduled flights carrying passengers.
The historic inaugural flight was Flight NH661, departing Haneda at 8:15 a.m. and bound for Nagasaki (scheduled to arrive at 10:05 a.m.). A photo booth was set up in front of Gate 65 at Haneda Airport’s Terminal 2, where ANA staff handed out boarding passes as commemorative gifts.
At the apron, staff members holding banners saw the plane off. Despite the early hour, a large crowd of onlookers had gathered on the observation deck of Haneda Airport’s Terminal 2.
