“Shinkansen e-Ticket (Tokudane Special 28)” offering half-price fares on the Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines is now on sale. One-way fares between Tokyo and Kanazawa drop from 14,400 yen to 7,200 yen.

As part of its new campaign, “I Want to Go, I Want to Eat: The Sea of Japan!”—which features seafood caught in the Sea of Japan off the Niigata and Hokuriku regions—JR East is releasing the “Shinkansen e-Ticket (Tokudane Special 28),” which offers a 50% discount on reserved seats in standard class on the Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen lines.

The promotion applies to weekday trips taken between December 7 and 17. Tickets can be purchased on Ekinet from 10:00 a.m. one month prior to the travel date until 11:50 p.m. 28 days prior to the travel date.

For example, a one-way ticket for one adult on the Joetsu Shinkansen “Toki” between Tokyo and Niigata, which normally costs 10,780 yen during the regular season with a Shinkansen e-ticket, is now 50% off at 5,390 yen. For the Hokuriku Shinkansen “Kagayaki” and “Hakutaka” trains between Tokyo and Kanazawa (one adult, one-way), the price is 7,200 yen—a 50% discount from the standard Shinkansen e-ticket price of 14,400 yen.
