With just half a year to go until the Horticultural Expo opens, Myaku Myaku and Tunk Tunk are set to perform together! Osaka Mayor Yokoyama, with the Kansai Expo in mind, is urging people to “buy tickets early and visit as soon as possible.”

On September 29, the GREEN×EXPO Association (Organizing Committee for the 2027 International Horticultural Exposition) held a “Media Briefing Six Months Before GREEN×EXPO 2027” in Yokohama. Under the theme “Tomorrow’s Landscape: Creating Happiness,” GREEN×EXPO 2027 will be held for 192 days from March 19 to September 26, 2027. As one of Japan’s premier “International Horticultural Expositions (Flower Expos),” this highly anticipated event marks the first such exposition in the country in approximately 37 years, since the 1990 Osaka Expo. At the press conference, an overview and the latest updates on initiatives being carried out by the host city, Yokohama, were presented, and the official mascot character, “Tunk Tunk,” made an appearance. In addition, “Myaku Myaku,” the official character of the Osaka-Kansai World Expo, rushed to the event to show support, and the venue erupted with excitement as the two characters shared the stage, symbolizing the passing of the baton from the World Expo to the International Horticultural Exposition.

Announcement of Two Venues: “Tsunagu Yokohama Hall” and “Tsunagu Yokohama Field” At the International Garden and Horticultural Exposition, the host city, Yokohama, has adopted the exhibition concept “Together, Let’s Open Up the World’s Tomorrow.” Under this concept, with the goal of creating an eco-friendly, circular future city and lifestyle (Circular City YOKOHAMA), two venues—the “Tsunagu Yokohama Pavilion” and the “Tsunagu Yokohama Field”—will be established within the expo grounds. “Tsunagu Yokohama Pavilion” will feature an exterior designed with nature and the environment in mind, including wood-clad walls and solar panels installed on the roof. The central square monument is constructed using wood from the “Grand Roof Ring” of the Osaka-Kansai World Expo, and benches will also be installed. The Tsunagu Yokohama Pavilion consists of two zones: the Lifestyle Zone, themed “Connecting Daily Life to Tomorrow,” and the Future Zone, themed “Connecting Technology to the Future.” The Lifestyle Zone is designed to be a space where visitors can naturally sense how each person’s small actions in daily life are, in fact, connected to the future. In the Future Zone, the pavilion will collaborate with 36 companies to present a space where cutting-edge technology and imagination converge. The “Tsunagu Yokohama Field,” which extends outdoors, is one of the largest environmental experience fields at the venue, spanning 10,000 square meters, and consists of three zones: the Welcome Zone, the Action Zone, and the Future Zone.
