Universal Studios Japan’s “Halloween Horror Nights” is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. 2026 is also an anniversary year, coinciding with the park’s 25th anniversary. To make this milestone Halloween even more exciting, a series of exclusive original merchandise items will be released one after another.
Of particular note is the first-ever collaboration between “Tomie” and “Street Zombie,” the signature works of Junji Ito, the world-renowned master of horror manga.
Zombies—reanimated corpses—and Tomie, a beautiful young woman who multiplies no matter how many times she’s killed. These two terrors, which should never be brought together, make an unexpected joint appearance at USJ. What’s more, Tomie isn’t the one being attacked by the zombies—she’s leading them out into the night, which is just too much to handle.
The newly drawn artwork depicts Tomie, dressed in a matching uniform to the high school zombie making its debut this year, holding a Hamikuma stuffed animal. ……“So Tomie bought a Hamikuma plushie, huh?”—it’s a moment that warms the heart a little, but the sight of her striding down the street with a defiant smile, flanked by a horde of zombies, makes her look every bit the queen ruling over Halloween night. Tomie fans are sure to tremble (in a different sense). Tomie merchandise is available at “Studio Style.”
Of course, Hamikuma—a Halloween favorite—has also leveled up by bringing along some new friends. The new collection features a Hamikuma popcorn bucket and four types of face keychains featuring designs of Hamikuma from throughout the series. The popcorn buckets come in two varieties—the pink Hamikuma candy bucket introduced last year and the standard Hamikuma bucket—and both feature a mechanism that, despite their cute appearance, randomly mutters one of three of Hamikuma’s signature dark, sinister lines in a death voice. The popcorn comes in strawberry caramel and candy flavors—subtly cute tastes that are quintessentially Hamikuma.
Also, as part of a collaboration with “Resident Evil: Requiem,” the series’ iconic creature, the Licker, has been faithfully recreated on a popcorn bucket. Even its long tongue and sharp claws have been reproduced, and it features a gimmick where you can open the head to take out the popcorn. The fact that the flavor is either “brains” or “miso” is pretty cool, too. It’s available at the food cart in front of Space Fantasy: The Ride.
In addition, the Raccoon City Police Department-themed T-shirt (7,500 yen), jacket (15,000 yen), and 3-way bag (6,200 yen)—which can be worn around the waist, over the shoulder, or across the chest—are so realistic and cool that they’ll complete your Halloween costume all on their own. These items are available for purchase at the Cinema 4-D Store.
Cute characters like Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Peanuts (Snoopy) will also be taking on a “cute-yet-creepy” look during the event—wearing eye patches or sporting bodies covered in patches. Be sure to take them home with you!
