More Zombies Than Ever! USJ’s “Halloween Horror Night” Celebrates Its 15th Anniversary with a Thrilling Night

This year marks the 15th anniversary of “Halloween Horror Night” at Universal Studios Japan. Known for its dramatic shift from the cozy, peaceful Halloween atmosphere of the daytime to a world shrouded in terror as night falls, this event is celebrating a milestone year—and the zombies are more fired up than ever. In 2026, a record number of zombies will swarm the park, and the shows and entertainment—which blend horror and music—will be even more spectacular.

After sunset, “Street Zombies” emerge from nowhere amid eerie smoke to await the guests. This year’s story features high school students on a school trip who turn into zombies, causing the infection to spread. The result is the largest-ever appearance of zombies. The park’s usually cheerful scenery is transformed into a stage overrun by zombies. The event takes place throughout the entire park, with the exception of certain areas, from 6:00 PM until closing time.

Of course, the popular “Zombie de Dance” will also be held. The Street of Terror will suddenly transform into a dance floor. To the beat of King Gnu’s “SO BAD,” humans and zombies will mingle and dance in a frenzy. Plus, this year, the “Playback Zombie de Dance” will make its debut at the end of each day. Songs that have graced past “Halloween Horror Nights”—such as Ado’s “Shou” and Third Generation J SOUL BROTHERS’ “Rat-tat-tat”—will make a comeback as a special 15th-anniversary medley.

Another highlight is the “Halloween Horror Night Academy: 15 Years of Screams,” taking place at Gramercy Park. Join high school zombies as they look back on the exploits of zombies and horror legends from the very first event to the present day, condensing 15 years of terror and madness into one night. When those familiar faces appear on stage, the excitement reaches a fever pitch, and you’ll feel a true sense of unity between the stage and the audience. Showtimes vary by day, but special viewing area tickets are available, so be sure to check them out.

You’ll also have the chance to enjoy classic hits from the past. Songs from past “Zombie de Dance” performances will also be featured on “Hollywood Dream—The Ride.” “SO BAD” will be available from September 11 to November 8, “Rat-tat-tat” from September 11 to October 10, and “Shō” from October 11 to November 8—all for a limited time.

Scream, sing, and dance along with the zombies. Whether you’re a fan of past Halloween Horror Nights or visiting for the first time, a heart-pounding night unique to USJ—one that’s nostalgic for veterans and fresh for newcomers—awaits you.
