Korean Air to Launch Free Starlink In-Flight Wi-Fi on September 15; Service Supports Video Streaming and Online Gaming

Korean Air will launch a free in-flight Wi-Fi service using the low-Earth orbit satellite communication service “Starlink” on September 15.

The airline plans to proceed with the introduction of these features primarily on large aircraft, such as the Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER, and expects to have the installation completed on most of its fleet by the end of 2027. The routes covered include medium- and long-haul routes to the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, as well as some short-haul routes.

While the service is free, aircraft not equipped with Starlink will continue to offer paid in-flight Wi-Fi as before.

Thanks to the increased bandwidth provided by Starlink, users can enjoy activities such as watching videos, playing online games, transferring large files, and using cloud tools with the same level of comfort as on the ground.
