On September 30, JAL announced that it would make some changes to the FLY ON status requirements and services for elite members.
Regarding “JGC Premier,” the existing requirements—such as achieving Sapphire status or higher and applying for a JAL Card—have been eliminated, and the program has been revised so that it can now be attained solely based on flight activity during the calendar year (80,000 FLY ON points or more, or 80 flights or more plus 25,000 FLY ON points).
The new rules will take effect for flights taken on or after January 1, 2027, and the program name will change from “JGC Premier” to “JMB Premier” in accordance with the revised criteria. Please note that if you achieve JGC Premier status based on your 2026 flight activity, you will retain that status without any changes.
There will also be changes to the Diamond Metal benefits, as well as the JMB Diamond and JMB Premier benefits. For example, while JMB Premier benefits will no longer include “exemption from mileage expiration” and “exclusion from Service Selection,” new benefits such as “a bonus of 10,000 miles” will be introduced.
Please note that while these miles are not eligible for indefinite validity, if you hold JGC Six Star, JGC Five Star, or JGC Four Star Life Status Points (LSP), they will continue to be eligible for indefinite validity.
This applies to FLY ON status members for fiscal year 2028 (based on flight activity from January through December 2027).
In addition, there will be no changes to the top-tier services, such as access to first-class lounges, dedicated security checkpoints for Diamond and JGC Premier members, front-row seat selection, priority boarding, and the granting of oneworld “Emerald” status.
Furthermore, since regular JGC members, JMB Sapphire members, and JMB Crystal members are not included in this review, there will be no changes to their services or status requirements.
