Emirates Announces Fully Electric Premium Economy Seats on the A350; Introduces World’s First Privacy Screens That Extend to the Top of the Seatback

On September 3 (local time), Emirates announced its new electric Premium Economy seats.

It is the world’s first Premium Economy class to feature “full-height privacy screens” between seats that can be adjusted to the same height as the seatbacks, and will be introduced on the airline’s new Airbus A350 aircraft.

The seating configuration is 2-3-2, for a total of 28 seats. Seats are 20 inches wide with a maximum seat pitch of 39 inches, and are designed so that reclining does not affect passengers in the rows behind. All adjustments—including raising and lowering the privacy screens and changing seat positions—can be made using buttons on the control panel; this marks the company’s first implementation of fully electric premium economy seats.

In addition, the seats feature the “U-Dream Headrest,” in which the left and right sections of the headrest can be separated and folded toward the front; wireless charging for smartphones; a USB Type-C charging port; a smartphone holder; and a 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreen.
