The Horticultural Expo Announces the First Batch of Events Scheduled During the Exhibition Period, Including a Permanent Nebuta Exhibition, Danjiri Parades, and National Days from Various Countries

The GREEN×EXPO Association (Association for the 2027 International Horticultural Exposition) released the first installment of its list of events scheduled for the exposition on September 19, marking the six-month countdown to the event.

The “Festival Calendar Project” will be held year-round. As an interactive event for visitors, it will feature agricultural rituals and traditional performing arts set against backdrops that symbolize rural landscapes and the Japanese perspective on nature. In addition, the project will host a variety of events in collaboration with regional festivals and traditional performing arts groups, including a permanent exhibition of the Aomori Nebuta Festival.

The original musical “Vibrant INOCHI” will be performed at irregular intervals during the event. It humorously addresses environmental issues and promotes “Vibrant INOCHI”—the fundamental philosophy of Kanagawa Prefecture’s governance.

In addition, the event will feature sports activities on the lawn, as well as various stage performances and workshops organized in collaboration with top athletes and sports teams. The goal is to convey the joy of physical activity while highlighting the appeal of a sustainable sports culture that protects the Earth’s environment for future generations.

Furthermore, with the aim of deepening official participants’ (countries, regions, and international organizations) understanding of culture and promoting international goodwill, all official participants will hold National Days and Special Days. Schedules have currently been finalized for 59 countries and organizations for which permission to publicize the events has been granted.

In addition, events are scheduled to include presentations on Japan’s green technologies and policies by various government ministries and agencies; opportunities to experience the unique traditional cultures of local governments across the country; and music, workshops, performances, and other events organized by participants selected through open calls.
