“Tourism EXPO Japan 2026,” one of the world’s largest travel events, is being held at Tokyo Big Sight for four days, from September 24 to 27.
In the “Showcasing Regional Charms: Town Pride PR Plaza (Y-18)” section of the travel area (for domestic and inbound travel), Itoigawa City in Niigata Prefecture and Ono City in Fukui Prefecture will have booths. Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture, will display stones brought from the city’s “Jade Coast” and will hold jade-polishing workshops at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each day, limited to 10 participants per session.
We plan to hand out numbered tickets; please check with our booth for details.
The city of Ono in Fukui Prefecture is promoting “Ono Micro-Stay,” a program where travelers enjoy a week-long stay in Ono, “apprenticing” with local artisans to experience activities such as making raw soy sauce and trying their hand at cloisonné. On September 26, a cloisonné workshop will be held, limited to the first 30 participants. In addition, a VR experience featuring Echizen-Ono Castle, known as the “Castle in the Sky,” will be offered.
