Tokyo Metro and LinkTivity have revamped the “Tokyo City Pass,” a tourist ticket aimed at international visitors, and will begin selling it on September 4 at 11:00 a.m.
The package has been revamped from the previous format—which combined transportation, sightseeing, activities, and dining—to a new system where users can purchase a basic “Base Pass” on its own and add the facilities they wish to visit as “Optional Spots” as needed. This service is also available to travelers residing in Japan.
The Base Pass includes the “Tokyo Subway Ticket” (worth 1,000 yen), a 24-hour pass that allows unlimited rides on all Tokyo Metro and Toei Subway lines, the “Tokyo Yokubari Experience,” which offers opportunities to experience the unique food culture and history of Japan and Tokyo at six facilities (worth a total of 3,550 yen); and the “Tokyo Gourmet Coupon” (worth 1,000 yen), redeemable at participating restaurants and eateries in Tokyo.
To commemorate the renovation, the following limited-time prices are available (end date to be determined): a one-day pass for 1,900 yen (regularly 2,400 yen), a 2-day pass for 2,700 yen (regularly 3,200 yen), and a 3-day pass for 3,700 yen (regularly 4,200 yen). This means you can enjoy services worth a total of 5,550 yen for just 1,900 yen per day.
You can freely add optional attractions to this to create your own custom sightseeing itinerary. At some venues, discounts are available when you add optional attractions, allowing you to enter at a lower price than usual. Additionally, purchasing tickets in advance lets you avoid waiting in line or finding out they’re sold out once you arrive.
In addition to the Tokyo City Pass special website, you can purchase it through online travel agencies (OTAs) such as Klook and KKday.
