Oita Prefecture has determined that the eligibility period for the Japan Tourism Agency’s “Kyushu Recovery Support Discount” travel assistance program will cover stays from October 1 through December 25. Sales (and the start of reservations) for eligible travel packages are scheduled to begin in late September, and the program may end early if the budget limit is reached.
The Kyushu Recovery Support Discount is a measure designed to quickly restore travel demand throughout the Kyushu region, which was affected by the Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake. For reservations in Kyushu that include at least one overnight stay, as well as tour packages that include transportation such as JR tickets or airline tickets, the program subsidizes travel and accommodation costs up to 50% per person per night (60% in Kumamoto and Kagoshima).
Each prefecture is currently considering the specific start date for reservations, the eligible stay periods, accommodations, travel products, and booking methods (such as travel agencies and OTAs).
Furthermore, according to the minutes of the “5th Standing Committee on Economy and Environment” of the Kumamoto Prefectural Assembly held on September 3, it was revealed that, under the national subsidy guidelines, accommodations booked through the end of February 2027 are eligible for subsidies (excluding the period from December 26 to January 3, 2027), while regional coupons are not eligible for subsidies.
