The first-ever “International Lantern Spectacular” dazzles the night sky in Hong Kong during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Lanterns from around the world are on display, including a massive 8-meter-tall installation inspired by a banyan tree and a giant moon floating on the water.

To coincide with the Mid-Autumn Festival, which begins on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, the Hong Kong Tourism Board will host a variety of events where visitors can enjoy the festivities, Hong Kong-style.

Lanterns from Hong Kong and around the world are gathered here under the theme of “Reunion”

Under the theme of “Reunion,” the exhibition features “Qinhuai Lanterns”—a traditional lantern craft from Nanjing that has been designated as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in China—as well as lanterns crafted by local artisans in Hong Kong. In addition, a diverse collection of lanterns from a total of 20 countries and regions will be brought together to form three main exhibition areas.
