Emergency relief supplies provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to address flood damage in Raswa District, Bagmati Province, Nepal, and in the Botekoshi and Trishli river basins have been delivered to the country.
The emergency aid supplies for Nepal arrived in Kathmandu on September 2. A handover ceremony was held at Tribhuvan International Airport at 4:30 p.m. (local time) that same day. Attendees included Mahabir Pun, Nepal’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, on the Nepalese side, and Toru Maeda, Japan’s Ambassador to Nepal, and Mizuki Matsuzaki, Director of the JICA Nepal Office, on the Japanese side.
At the handover ceremony, Minister Pun of Science, Technology, and Innovation expressed his deep gratitude for Japan’s prompt assistance.
In addition, Mr. Matsuzaki, Director of the JICA Nepal Office, expressed his condolences for those who lost their lives in the recent floods and offered his sympathies to the victims, emphasizing the importance of delivering essential supplies to the affected areas and people as quickly as possible.
The relief supplies provided on this occasion will be distributed to the disaster victims by the government of that country.
