On September 4, JICA will dispatch an International Emergency Assistance Team and a team of experts to Nepal in response to the flood and mudslide damage there, as detailed below.

1. Disaster Situation
Massive floods (flash floods) and mudslides occurred in Raswa District, Nepal, and Shigatse City in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, both located near the Nepal-China border. As of September 3, the death toll on the Nepalese side stood at 1,204, with 4,216 people missing and approximately 310,000 affected; on the Chinese side, there were 16 deaths and 546 people missing.
2. Dispatch of the Japan International Emergency Assistance Team and Expert Teams
In response to a request from the Nepalese government, the Japanese government decided on the 3rd to dispatch an International Emergency Assistance Team of experts, and JICA has begun preparations for the team’s deployment.
