To promote the use of high-precision positioning data in Thailand, JICA has, through the implementation of the technical cooperation project “Project to Strengthen the Capacity of the National Data Center for Electronic Control Points and Promote the Use of Such Data (TIGORS Project, 2020–2024),” supported the establishment of the National Data Center (National CORS Data Center: NCDC) and the integration of the electronic benchmark network.
Phase 2 of the TIGORS project will begin in 2026. As part of this phase, we will conduct a business trial in collaboration with the Geo-Information and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA) to support the creation and commercialization of businesses that utilize high-precision positioning data (NCDC data) through co-creation between Japanese and Thai companies.
We are pleased to announce that we will be holding an online information session regarding the call for applications for the Business Trial, as detailed below. Through this Business Trial, JICA and GISTDA will provide support to selected businesses for the activities necessary to validate and demonstrate the feasibility of commercialization in Thailand. Details regarding the scope of support, eligible expenses, application requirements, and other matters will be explained during the information session.
We would be delighted if Japanese companies currently considering business opportunities in Thailand that utilize high-precision positioning technology would join us.
About High-Precision Positioning Data
In Thailand, with support from JICA, data on electronic control points—which had been maintained and managed by multiple government agencies—has been consolidated at the NCDC, enabling users to access the correction data necessary for high-precision positioning free of charge. Currently, the Thai government—led by GISTDA—is advancing initiatives to revitalize domestic industries by rolling out services that utilize this high-precision positioning data throughout Thailand.
During Phase 1 of the TIGORS project, use cases related to the utilization of high-precision positioning data were demonstrated and verified.
