KDDI and JR East are launching a campaign that offers three hours of unlimited data usage to customers who use Shinkansen e-tickets. The campaign runs for a limited time, from the first train on September 18 to the last train on December 17, and applies to all 55 Shinkansen stations within the JR East service area.
To use this service, you must book a Shinkansen e-ticket through JR East’s online reservation service, “Ekinet,” and then link your Suica ID—associated with your reservation—to your povo 2.0 account via the povo app at least 20 minutes before departure.
When you pass through the Shinkansen ticket gates using a Suica or Mobile Suica card linked to your reservation, the “Unlimited Data (3 Hours)” plan will automatically be applied approximately 5 to 10 minutes after you pass through the gates.
There is no limit to the number of times the benefit can be applied, and it can be used multiple times on the same day. However, the benefit cannot be applied more than once per transaction.
The participating stations are Tokyo, Ueno, Omiya, Oyama, Utsunomiya, Nasushiobara, Shin-Shirakawa, Koriyama, Fukushima, Shiroishi-Zao, Sendai, Furukawa, Kurikoma-Kogen, Ichinoseki, Mizusawa-Esashi, Kitakami, Shin-Hanamaki, Morioka, Iwate-Numamiyauchi, Ninohe, Hachinohe, Shichinohe-Towada, Shin-Aomori, Kumagaya, Honjo-Waseda, Takasaki, Jomo-Kogen, Echigo-Yuzawa, Gala Yuzawa, Urasa, Nagaoka, Tsubame-Sanjo, Niigata, Annaka-Haruna, Karuizawa, Sakudaira, Ueda, Nagano, Iiyama, Joetsu-Myoko, Yonezawa, Takahata, Akayu, Kaminoyama Onsen, Yamagata, Tendo, Sakuranbo-Higashine, Murayama, Oishida, Shinjo, Shizukuishi, Lake Tazawa, Kakunodate, Omagari, Akita.
