ANA will reduce the amount of the special fuel surcharge applied to tickets issued between September 1 and October 30.
The company determines its fuel surcharge every two months based on the average market price of kerosene in Singapore over the previous two months.
Based on the average price for the period from June 1 to July 31, which serves as the basis for this calculation, the amount would normally have fallen within the “21,000 yen or more but less than 22,000 yen” bracket; however, however, due to the supportive effect of the government’s emergency measures to mitigate sudden price fluctuations in light of the situation in the Middle East, the “20,000 yen or more but less than 21,000 yen” table—one level lower—was applied as a special exception.
Note that in the previous announcement (for tickets issued from July through August), the “25,000 yen or more but less than 26,000 yen” tier was applied; since the rates were 7,400 yen for South Korea and Russia and 65,000 yen for Europe, the U.S., and Australia, this represents a reduction of up to 10,000 yen.
