“EX Service” and “e5489” have integrated. Users can switch between the two without logging in and check reservations for Shinkansen and limited-express trains from the three JR companies all in one app.

JR Central, JR West, and JR Kyushu will begin integrating the “EX Service” (Express Reservation and Smart EX)—an online reservation service for the Tokaido, Sanyo, and Kyushu Shinkansen lines—with “e5489,” an online reservation service for Shinkansen and conventional-line limited-express trains operated by JR West, on October 20.

By linking both member IDs in advance, users will no longer need to log in again when switching between the two services. As long as they are logged in with either JR West’s “WESTER ID” or the “EX Member ID” for Shinkansen reservations, they can navigate directly to the other service and complete the reservation process seamlessly.

In addition, when transferring between the Shinkansen and conventional limited-express trains, passengers will be able to view their reservation information—which previously had to be checked separately through each system—all in one place on the screens of the “EX App” or “WESTER App” for smartphones.

In addition, the new member registration process has been simplified; if a user is already registered with either service, an automated feature will be introduced to automatically transfer existing member information—such as name and date of birth—to the registration form for the other service.

If you complete your registration using this auto-fill feature, you’ll be able to start using the service with settings—such as the automatic accrual of “WESTER Points” when you ride the Shinkansen in the JR West service area—already configured in advance.
