Itabashi Ward, the Itabashi Ward Tourism Association, and the Shimura-Takashimadaira Police Station will implement traffic restrictions on surrounding roads in conjunction with the “67th Itabashi Fireworks Festival,” which will be held on August 1. The restrictions will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Vehicle access restrictions apply to the area north of the Shinkashi River up to the Arakawa riverbank, as well as a portion east of the Nakasendo Road (the area marked with red diagonal lines in the image). Residents and employees of businesses located within the restricted area may drive through the area from July 21 to 31 by obtaining a “Resident Permit for the Restricted Area.” However, since significant traffic congestion is expected after the fireworks display ends (from 8:30 p.m. to around 10:00 p.m.), authorities are urging residents to refrain from driving even if they hold a permit.
Please note that vehicles—even those with a resident permit—are not permitted to use the roads leading to the “Hasune Bridge,” “Funato-ohashi Bridge,” “Nishidai Bridge,” and “Tokumaru Bridge” on the Shinkashi River, nor the roads along the river embankment.
On the same day, the “73rd Toda Bridge Fireworks Festival,” held jointly with the Itabashi Fireworks Festival on the opposite bank, will take place; traffic restriction maps for this event have also been released. Restrictions will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
